Vilas, Colorado

Vilas is located in eastern Baca County. This is the Great Plains with lots of wheat and other grains, plus cattle. Vilas is probably here only because there was once a rail siding built here. The Dust Bowl and the Great Depression hit this area so hard it hasn't recovered. The townsite of Vilas covers 1/8th of a square mile, right beside US Highway 160.
