Montrose County is in central-western Colorado, against the Utah border. Montrose County is the gateway to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The Montrose area is seeing tremendous growth these days because of the pristine local environment, isolated as it is from the mining and gas and oil operations that characterize a lot of Colorado these days.
Montrose County contains 2,241 square miles of land and 2 square miles of water. The county seat and largest town is Montrose.
