Lake County, Colorado
The modern Lake County Courthouse in Leadville
Lake County is located in the heart of the mountains in central Colorado. Back in the late 1800's, this area was a large collection of silver camps with mining going on everywhere. These days, the big mine is for molybdenum at Climax.
Named for the Twin Lakes, Lake County contains 377 square miles of land and 7 square miles of water. The county seat is Leadville.
