Genoa, Colorado
The Post Office in Genoa
Genoa is home to the "World's Wonder View Tower," a tourist trap/roadside attraction built in the mid-1920s on a spot that was confirmed in 1934 to be the highest point between Denver and New York City. The tower is 65' tall and the promoters claimed a visitor could see Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota from the top. The tower also houses a vintage museum displaying curiosities and novelties like an eight-legged pig, two-headed calf and some 50,000 types of glass bottles. The museum also contains Native American arrowheads and other artifacts, historic American West weapons and artifacts and miscellaneous fossils.
