Main Street in Brighton
On March 25, 2009, ground was broken in Brighton for the construction of 2 Vestas, Inc. manufacturing plants. Vestas makes and sells industrial wind turbines (for generating electrical power), so one factory is to produce turbine blades while the other is to make the nacelles (the actual electricity generators) that the blades attach to. It's estimated that these 2 factories will employ 1,350 people between them. Just as business got started and orders began to pick up, the Republicans in Congress in 2012 voted to kill the federal subsidies for wind power... then Obama was re-elected and the subsidies came back. Now, with war in Ukraine and the global economy looking like a disaster area, the federal government is investing heavier than ever in developing renewable energy sources.
