The National Forests of Mississippi are all administered out of a supervisor's office in Jackson. Each is maintained as a separate Ranger District, each with a local office. Most of the Forests were formed in 1936 and were administratively combined at the same time. Today's National Forests in Mississippi comprise about 1.2 million acres of land.
