Roland Cooper State Park is a 236-acre property located along the shore of William "Bill" Dannelly Reservoir. The primary feature of the park (other than the excellent fishing access to the striped bass, white crappie, blue catfish, channel catfish and hybrid striped bass that the reservoir is noted for) is a 9-hole regulation length golf course. Roland Cooper State Park also offers vacation cottages, boat launch facilities, a large picnic area with shelters, tables and barbecue grills, and a modern campground with a bathhouse/laundry and camp store. All 47 improved campsites offer water, electric, sewer, picnic tables and cooking grills. Dump stations and trash dumpsters are close by. There are also 13 primitive campsites available for folks who like to rough it.
Roland Cooper State Park also offers 6 two-bedroom cabins by the night and by the week. Cabins are furnished and include fridge, stove, silverware, cooking utensils, linens, washcloths, televisions, barbecue grills and heating/air conditioning systems. One cabin is universally accessible, one cabin is rated "dog friendly." Each cabin will easily sleep up to four people but there is a charge per extra person above 12 years of age. Rollaway beds can be added, too, for an additional charge per night. Weekend rentals require a two-night minimum, three-nights on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends.
Roland Cooper State Park is located along the Black Belt Nature and Heritage Trail.
