Included in the 696 acres of Chewacla State Park is a 26-acre lake with swimming area, playgrounds, a modern campground, hiking trails, newly renovated cabins and picnic areas with grills, tables and shelters.

One thing that makes Chewacla State Park popular is its proximity to Auburn University: the park tends to be overflowing on football weekends. One of the more popular sites on Chewacla State Park is Chewacla Falls on Chewacla Creek, accessed via the paved (wheelchair accessible) Loop Road Trail.

The six newly renovated cabins and the lake at Chewacla State Park were built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The lake does not have a boat ramp but visitors are allowed to hand launch their non-motorized watercraft (canoes or kayaks) to enjoy the water. Each cabin features a stone fireplace, hardwood floors, bathrooms, modern kitchens (refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, cooking and eating utensils) and central heating and air conditioning systems. Bed and bath linens are also provided. The cabins have televisions but no phones. One cabin is ADA accessible. The cabins are available year round but you'll need to make reservations in advance. All cabins have a two-night minimum, three-nights on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day Weekends. The prices for the two-person (4-people max) cabins vary from $80 per night to $126 per night (depending on the days of the week and the season, highest on football weekends). The 4-person (6-people max) cabins vary from $110 per night to $165 per night (depending on the days of the week and season, highest on football weekends). Add 13% lodging tax to the prices. Add $10 per additional guest (per night) over age 11 and another $10 per rollaway bed per night (plus the 13% lodging tax).

There are eight hiking trails of varying difficulty at Chewacla State Park, plus a mountain bike trail and an interpretive "tree identification" trail.

The developed campground offers 36 sites with a mix of water and electric only, and water, electric and sewer available sites. Camping Fees: Sites with water, electric & sewer: prices vary from $21 to $28 per site per night (plus tax), depending on day of the week and season (highest in football season). Water & electric sites: prices per site per night vary from $18 to $27, depending on day of week and season (highest during football season). All campsites require two-night minimum, although that becomes a three-night minimum for Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends.

Chewacla State Park also offers a primitive campground with ten sites. One site is for a 4-person tent, the others are all for 2-person tents with space to add a second tent for children/other dependents. The primitive campground is close to restrooms/showers and fires are allowed in the designated fire rings as long as there are no burn warnings in effect. Dogs on leashes are allowed, too.
