The National Forests in North Carolina have been administered out of a single office in Asheville since 1954. Each forest does have its own ranger district(s).
The land of Uwharrie National Forest was acquired by the Federal government in 1931 but it didn't come into existence as an official Forest Service Unit for another 30 years.
