Buckskin Mountain State Park

Buckskin Mountain State Park is located about 12 miles north of Parker on Arizona State Road 95. The River Island Unit is another mile north of the main unit of the state park. This 1,677-acre state park is open every day except Christmas Day.

Buckskin Mountain State Park is on a section of the Colorado River between Parker Dam and Headgate Dam. With the Buckskin Mountains to the east and the Whipple Mountains to the west, this is a beautiful recreation area in an out of the way place. Buckskin Mountain and River Island are ideal spots for camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and swimming. A number of excellent view trails, some with interpretive maps, are available, including one trail at River Island that gives you a great view of Parker Dam: the world's deepest dam. Lake Havasu City is about 25 miles further north and the Colorado River Indian Reservation is just to the east.

The main unit of Buckskin Mountain State Park offers 68 campsites, a beach with 21 cabana sites, hiking trails, showers, restrooms, picnic area and boat ramp. There are also volleyball and basketball courts, a playground area, restaurant, camp and clothing store, game arcade, boat dock with gas, and a ranger station. The River Island Unit offers a 37-site campground/group use area with ramada, showers, restrooms, horseshoe pits, sandy beach, boat launch, and a ranger station. You'll find striped bass, largemouth bass, channel catfish, sunfish, carp and bullhead swimming in the water, just waiting for an invitation to go home with you...
