Porcupine Lake Wilderness

Porcupine Lake Wilderness is a 4,446-acre wilderness on Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest about 4 miles southeast of Drummond, Wisconsin. A good portion of the landscape is composed of rolling hills carpeted in maple, hemlock, oak and white pine. The rest of the property is flat with significant open areas. Most streams carry populations of trout and the two larger water bodies (Porcupine Lake and Eighteen Mile spring Pond) offer bass, trout, northern pike and panfish. In addition to the bear, deer, coyote and fox you'll find large numbers of songbirds, including the elusive loon.

The North Country National Scenic Trail crosses the length of the wilderness, the route marked now and then at the intersections with other trails.
