Lower White River Wilderness

The Lower White River Wilderness is a 2,867-acre property meant to protect the lower reaches of the Wild & Scenic White River. The property is about half on Mount Hood National Forest with the rest on BLM land along the river. The White River sources in glacial meltwaters flowing downhill from the White River Glacier in White River Canyon on the southeast side of Mount Hood. Upper stretches of the river are protected as part of Mount Hood Wilderness.

There are no maintained trails in Lower White River Wilderness but the Keeps Mill Campground is located just west of the boundary along FSR 2120. The campground is cooperatively maintained by the BLM and NFS and there are several primitive trails leading out of the campground to staging areas along the river for whitewater enthusiasts.
