In the Mudgetts Wilderness Study Area

Mudgetts Wilderness Study Area is located about 30 miles southwest of the city of Carlsbad in southern New Mexico. The property is contiguous with Carlsbad Wilderness (managed by the National Park Service). The area is a mix of steeply rolling limestone hills and canyons covered with desert shrubs and cactus mixed with scattered sotol, agave and juniper. The region is known for its scenic vistas, caves and diverse vegetation.
