Devils Backbone Wilderness Study Area

Devils Backbone Wilderness Study Area
The Devils Backbone Wilderness Study Area is an 8,904-acre property mostly along the southwestern slopes of the Magdalena Mountains in central New Mexico. The southern part of the wilderness study area is mostly a rocky grassland across the southern foothills of the range. The northern part of the wilderness study area is more of a pinon-juniper woodland as it spreads into higher elevations along the range's western slopes. At its highest, the property reaches into sharp granite peaks and ridges.
