The Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail travels about 1,200 miles across Montana, Idaho and Washington, from the Chief Mountain Customs office in Glacier National Park to Cape Alava on the Pacific Ocean in Olympic National Park. The trail crosses a mix of National Park Service, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Native American reservations, state forests and lands and even some private property along the way. After first being proposed in the 1970's, the PNT was one of eleven National Scenic Trails designated in the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009.
