Ivishak Wild & Scenic River

The Ivishak River is about 95 miles long, flowing northward from its headwaters through the Philip Smith Mountains and through the northwestern foothills of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. About 15 miles after leaving the refuge the Ivishak empties into the Sagavanirktok River on the Prudhoe Bay floodplain. It's the 80 miles of Ivishak River inside the refuge that have the Wild & Scenic River designation.

Along its route the Ivishak flows past year-round flowing springs, ice fields and glaciers in hanging valleys.
